BLACK WOMEN
IN JAPAN

Community, connection, and sisterhood across Japan.

About us

Formed in 2014, Black Women In Japan is a volunteer-run community organization that provides support to Black women from across the diaspora. We are an online community of over 4,500 women of the African Diaspora: Europe, the U.K., the Americas, the Caribbean, and Africa, living in Japan. We are here to support Black women living in Japan and build bridges between the Diaspora and Japan.

Featured event

The BWIJ Convention is the flagship event — a gathering where ladies from across Japan meet in person to celebrate community and engage in meaningful discussions while celebrating each other.

This year’s convention combines experiences with academic achievements, well-being, and sisterhood. It’s an opportunity to meet, greet, and access a wealth of opportunities. Come for the camaraderie and rise together!

Join us for the first convention since the pandemic.
